“This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, to the world. Archie made us a ‘Mama’ and a ‘Papa,’ and Lili made us a family,” the couple said on their card. In the photo, Harry and Meghan are seen sporting denims, while Lilibet wears a white dress. The couple’s son, Archie, also wore denim and a white shirt.
“As we look forward to 2022, we have made donations on your behalf to several organizations that honor and protect families – from those being relocated from Afghanistan, to American families in need of paid parental leave,” the card further stated. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared the card with Team Rubicon, a veteran -led organisation, that the couple support.
The little girl’s first name, Lilibet, is a nod to Her Majesty The Queen’s nickname. Her middle name is in honor of her grandmother and Harry’s mother, Diana. The baby is the eighth in line to the British throne. No photos of the newborn or the Sussexes accompanied the announcement of her birth.
Lilibet’s birth came after the explosive Oprah interview with Harry and Meghan in March, in which the couple described in details how Markle faced racism at the British royal palace. The couple now lives in California after stepping away from their royal duties last year, and cutting all financial ties with the royal family.
